In a bid to strengthen unity and collaboration, the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) held a high-profile meeting in Ibadan, where National President Pretty Okafor engaged with leaders from the Association’s Western Zone. The meeting, which included Zonal heads, State Chapter Governors, and Chapter Secretaries, was organized to address member concerns, review ongoing projects, and chart a path forward for the Association.
The Western Zone Chapter Governors extended an invitation to Mr. Okafor to recognize his achievements in office, particularly his efforts on the PMAN Abuja project, the acquisition of the Nigerian Music House, and other infrastructure developments. The Governors praised Okafor’s leadership and pledged their support for his vision, acknowledging the positive changes he has brought to the Association.
The meeting drew notable figures from the Western Zone, including Dr. Ola Jombo, Chairman of the Western Zone, Evangelist Remi Aderoju, Secretary, and Chapter Governors and Secretaries from Kwara, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo, Oyo, and Lagos States. Acting General Secretary Elizabeth Khara Gabriel, Esq., alongside past and present chapter representatives, were also present to discuss the Association’s future.
Mr. Okafor, attending a Western Zone meeting for the first time, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, stating, “I am here to listen and to address issues affecting our members.” The Chapter Governors praised his dedication, highlighting his open and result-oriented approach. During the open session, several leaders voiced recommendations for operational improvements and increased National support for local chapters.
Key points raised during the discussion included calls for greater financial support and accountability, the need for a reconciliatory approach to bridge divides within PMAN, and initiatives to improve local registration processes and member services. The Chapter Governors also urged the establishment of liaison offices in Abuja and emphasized the importance of online registration to enhance accessibility.
Concluding the meeting, Okafor pledged to enhance transparency and inclusivity across all levels of PMAN’s operations. “I recognize the challenges and grievances you’ve raised today,” he said. “My goal is to bring PMAN closer to its members and to build a stronger, united Association.”
The Western Zone Governors closed the session by reaffirming their support for Okafor and committed to aligning with PMAN’s core values within their chapters.
This meeting is seen as a significant step towards strengthening PMAN’s operational support for all State Chapters, with leaders agreeing that unity and enhanced collaboration are essential for PMAN’s future.
