PMAN Sets the Record Straight: No “Takeover” at Monaco Site, Confirms Police Intervention and Ongoing Fraud Probe

 

 

 

The Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has issued a firm clarification regarding false reports of an alleged “takeover” of its Monaco site in Abuja, reaffirming its legal ownership of the land and updating stakeholders on ongoing criminal investigations.

 

PMAN stated that its recent caution sign at the Monaco site—urging anyone who bought plots or units from Olusco Heritage & Investment Ltd (“Olusco”) to come forward—has prompted several individuals to report they purchased land from Olusco. This development strengthens PMAN’s longstanding concerns over unauthorised sales allegedly carried out in collaboration with Mr. Boniface Itodo and Mr. Zakky Azzay, with Mr. Fruitful Mekwunye now publicly backing the group.

 

“This is not union politics; it is a criminal matter under investigation,” PMAN said. According to petitions before law enforcement, Olusco allegedly obtained over ₦350 million from G & D Building & Engineering Ltd., inducing further expenditure of more than ₦1.5 billion at the Monaco site. PMAN has presented investigators with evidence showing these transactions were backed by false claims of authority from individuals who were no longer in PMAN’s employ or had been suspended at the time.

 

Earlier today, video evidence captured Mr. Oluwafemi Olumeyan (Olusco) and Mr. Boniface Itodo arriving at the Monaco site with a crowd, reportedly using women and children as human shields while tearing down PMAN’s caution notice board. Police officers lawfully intervened to restore order and prevent a breach of the peace. When approached for arrest by plainclothes officers, Mr. Olumeyan and his group fled, with one vehicle nearly hitting a police officer in the process.

 

PMAN stressed that there was no “takeover” of the site and that police presence was solely for lawful crowd control and preservation of the property. Its caution notice is now being reinstated.

 

The Association also revealed that Mr. Olumeyan has repeatedly failed to honour police invitations and is instead pursuing a Fundamental Rights case against the Police and Mr. Olayinka Alade (MD of G & D Building & Engineering Ltd.), rather than addressing the substance of the allegations.

 

A Police Investigation Report from the IGP Monitoring Unit has already established a prima facie case against the parties involved, citing offences such as obtaining by false pretences, cheating, assault causing harm, and conduct likely to breach the peace. PMAN pledged continued cooperation with law enforcement, promising to provide additional evidence including today’s videos and witness statements.

 

Reaffirming its ownership of the land, PMAN declared that any transaction not backed by its written consent is void. The Association called on those who purchased plots or units from Olusco to present proof of payment and supporting documents for verification and potential recovery.

 

“PMAN will not allow its land or name to be used as a front for fraudulent sales or intimidation,” said PMAN President Pretty Okafor. “We commend the Nigeria Police Force for their swift action today and will continue to support the investigation until all wrongdoers are brought to justice.”

 

PMAN also offered to brief regulators and credible media and share certified extracts of the Police Investigation Report and timestamped video stills from the incident, where appropriate.
